I'm not a big Thai person, but their food was great! My favorite dishes were the fried fish, garlic ribs, and pork belly. The garlic ribs were so tender and juicy, and they fell off the bones SO easily. The pork belly wasn't too oily/fatty too! A decent meat to fat ratio. The fried fish was something I didn't expect to like, but was honestly so good. You must try those 3 dishes if you come!!! Everything was so flavorful and smelled so amazing. Just be aware that the crab curry is SUPER spicy. Service was great too! All the waiters were super friendly and knowledgeable about what their best dishes are. They recommended some of our dishes and definitely knew what we had to get. Their recommendations did not disappoint.

Tucked into Hells Kitchen, Chalong truly brings an authentic Southern Thai cuisine experience. Unfortunately with the A/C not operating and dealing with the summer humidity, we had to dine in with just fans. Nonetheless, despite being busy before the Friday dinner rush hour, we were welcomed and seated right away for a party of three, very lucky. The waiters and waitress were really busy but still greeted us with a welcome atmosphere and smile. A modern and cozy vibe of the restaurant overall. Baerng Golaewhich looks like a shrimp taco. My favorite item out of all the food we ordered. The sauce was so flavorful and had so much depth with Thai spices and sauce. The shrimp was perfectly cooked. Grilled Hor-mok was something that was recommended by the waiter (only order this is you can have a high heat spice tolerance.) Sea Bass fillet mixed with thai curry paste, kaffir lime leaves and spices wrapped in a banana leaf. It had like a moouse/paste texture overall. Each bite was a mix of sweetness and savory, while the heat slowly creeped up. It was an experience but the price and the portion, one time should be enough. Goat curry was packed with flavor and the goat was tender and came with roti bread. Khao Pad Mun Neur, Thai fried rice with beef rump cap, never heard of that cut of meat before! Nicely seasoned and meat was tender! A well rounded Southern Thai experience!! You will be spending some $$, but worth a try.

Returned for an early pre-theatre dinner with a reservation and had another great meal! My boyfriend and I ordered: + Pirate of tarutao cocktail + Biryani passion cocktail + Steamed Fish + Khao pad mun goong + Coconut puff stick + Mango sticky rice The steamed fish was the highlight, followed by the mango sticky rice. Cocktails were also really solid. The fried rice was fine but nothing special, so would skip that next time. 4.5 stars.

Would recommend if you come here to get a reservation as it definitely can get busy during the typical meal times. I loved that there were more dishes on the menu that you do not usually find at typical Thai places. It really makes you expand your palate to try other thai dishes that are out there. We got the steamed fish and the shrimp curry. The flavors in both were very good. I enjoyed the tender steamed fish. It is definitely a very healthy option if you weee looking for one. The sauce is a bit spicy and has a kick to it due to the jalapeños. I dock a star/half a star because the portion size was small for the price. We only got one small piece of fish to share for the price of the dish (above $30). The food came out super quickly, like it was magic. Service was fast. The ambiance is low lighting, moody vibes.

Came on a Friday night for dinner with a group of friends. We didn't have to wait too long with a reservation, but it is a popular restaurant so reservations would be needed during rush hours. We ordered a variety of dishes to share and everything was delicious. We also each ordered a drink in the case that some of the dishes we ordered would be a bit too spicy for us. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and would like to go back to try other dishes as well. The staff were all very friendly.

Everything here was fresh, well-prepared, artfully presented, and tasty. That being said, portion sizes were on the smaller side and it's a bit pricey for what you get. I tried the steamed fish-- great flavors, just a bit on the small side and I was lucky I wasn't that hungry. Heads up, they don't hold back on the lime here (which I like but something to be aware of). Mango sticky rice was good, not that different from what I've gotten at other restaurants. Service is incredibly fast, which makes this place an attractive option if you're trying to make a show. I don't think the food took even 10 minutes to arrive.

This spot has been on my list to try since they first opened and I finally got a chance to check it out! The inside is trendy and cute! Although slightly tight on space, it's not unlike other NYC restaurants. We started with the Baerng Golae which were essentially crispy thai shrimp tacos - super delicious, would highly recommend getting these! For our mains, we got the Seafood Kee Mao (with shrimp only) and the Steamed Fish with sea bass. Both were very well made. The sauce for the steamed fish was spicy, lemon-y and just absolutely delicious! It reminded me of the one they used to have at Thep Thai - so good! The thai tea was great! Service was overall pretty good and attentive and the food came out at a reasonable time. We were able to have a nice dinner and hang out without being rushed which I appreciated! Overall, definitely think this is one of the best Thai spots, although menu is somewhat limited, I'd definitely come here again! Looking forward to trying one of their mocktails next time!
